Abstract: This article explores the significant impact of cultural differences on the translation of idiomatic expressions, proverbs, and colloquialisms between Uzbek and English. Language serves as a reflection of cultural identity, and idiomatic phrases often encapsulate unique cultural values, beliefs, and social norms. This study delves into specific examples where direct translations fail to convey the intended meaning or emotional resonance, highlighting the challenges faced by translators. It examines how cultural context shapes language use, resulting in lexical gaps and the necessity for creative translation strategies. By analyzing various case studies, the article emphasizes the role of cultural knowledge in achieving effective communication and preserving the essence of the original text. Ultimately, it advocates for a deeper understanding of cultural nuances in translation practices to enhance cross-cultural dialogue and appreciation.
