THE REFLECTION OF HEROISM IN THE NOVELS OF ERNEST HEMINGWAY

Abstract

This article explores the theme of heroism in the novels of Ernest Hemingway.
It examines Hemingway’s portrayal of heroic figures and their characteristics as well
as the influence of his own experiences as a war correspondent and adventurer on his
depiction of heroism. The article also discusses Hemingway’s unique writing style and
its impact on the construction of heroes in his novels. This article aims to provide a
comprehensive understanding of how heroism is reflected in Hemingway’s writing
through a close analysis of key works such as “The Old Man and the Sea”, “For Whom
the Bell Tolls”, and “A Farewell to Arms”.
