Abstract
На сегодня острый аппендицит является наиболее распространенной причиной обращения в хирургический приемный покой. К примеру, в Великобритании регистрируется более 40 000 госпитализаций в год и выполняется от 42 000 до 47 000 операций по поводу острого аппендицита. А в США в 2007 году было выполнено около 326 000 операций по поводу аппендицита. Сообщается, что пожизненный риск проявления этого заболевания в Соединенных Штатах составляет 8,6% у мужчин и 6,7% у женщин, при ежегодной заболеваемостью 9,38 на 100 000 человек
